We inspect exposed gas piping beginning at the point of entry into the building and throughout the areas required under Local Law 152. The inspection focuses on identifying conditions such as corrosion, deterioration, and other unsafe or non-compliant conditions.
We perform the required combustible gas detection survey in applicable areas, including public spaces, hallways and corridors, mechanical rooms, and boiler rooms, to identify potential gas leaks and immediately hazardous conditions.
Following the inspection, we provide the property owner or manager with the inspection results and identify any conditions requiring corrective action.
Local Law 152 compliance filings are now handled electronically through DOB NOW: Safety. HBNY prepares the required inspection and filing information. The building owner must log into their DOB NOW account to complete the required owner attestation, submit the filing, and pay the applicable DOB fee.
Local Law 152 applies to many residential, commercial, and mixed-use buildings throughout Brooklyn. Certain buildings, including qualifying one- and two-family homes and other exempt Occupancy Group R-3 buildings, may be exempt from the periodic gas piping inspection requirement.

If defects are identified, the property owner can hire a separate qualified contractor of their choice to complete the necessary corrective work. Once the corrections are completed, HBNY can perform the required reinspection.
